Ecofin is an acronym for the European Union's Economic and Financial Affairs Council which is made up of the Finance Ministers of the 27 European Union members. Ecofin meetings can embrace all aspects of EU economic affairs with the exception of monetary policy which is the preserve of the ECB and other European central banks. Budgetary policy, fiscal policy, public finances, questions relating to financial markets and economic relations with non-EU countries are amongst the matters considered at Ecofin meetings.
