Price Indices
Price indices measure price levels and their rate of change. For example, the weighted average price of a basket of goods purchased by the average consumer is used to calculate consumer price indices (CPI) and retail price indices (RPI). The rate of change in the index shows the inflation rate or the rate of change in prices.
