Private Equity Fund

Private equity funds are firms which invest pools of capital raised from financial institutions in a wide range of commercial projects managed by investment professionals. They are normally not listed on stock exchanges, though some have gone public in recent years. Strategies employed include leveraged buyouts, investments in distressed companies and venture capital investments. Private equity firms often manage a number of separate funds and launch new funds every few years as previous ones become fully invested.
