LIFO

Last In First Out is a method of valuing stocks for accounting purposes. If the input prices used to calculate the cost of production use those of the most recently acquired stock items then production costs will be more closely related to their value than if older stock items are used. LIFO accounting tends to understate the value of stock in a company's balance sheet during periods of high inflation.
